Brian Morris proudly serves as the Post Adjutant for the Smith – Rogers – Reeves at Stones River VFW Post 4575 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, bringing more than two decades of distinguished military service, leadership, and dedication to veterans and community service.
Born in Long Island, New York, Brian enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1992. During his enlisted service, he served as a Hospital Corpsman with the United States Marine Corps, supported a Navy helicopter squadron, and later served as a work center supervisor at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Rota, Spain. His early assignments established a strong foundation of leadership, professionalism, and commitment to serving others.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in History from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in 2003, Brian received his commission as a Naval Officer in May 2005. Throughout his commissioned career, he served in numerous leadership positions aboard USS Carney (DDG-64), where he was responsible for leading Sailors and supporting mission readiness. Following his operational sea tour, he was selected to serve at the United States Naval Academy, where he instructed future naval officers in Seamanship and Navigation, Physical Education, and later served as a curator at the U.S. Naval Academy Museum, preserving and sharing the rich history of the Navy and Marine Corps.
Brian continued his professional development by earning a Master of Public Service Management from Cumberland University and a master's degree from the Naval War College with a specialization in Naval Operations and National Security.
Today, Brian serves as an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Cumberland University and is an active member of the university's Campus Safety Committee. His passion for education, leadership, and public service continues to positively influence students, veterans, and the broader community.
During his 21-year naval career, Brian earned numerous personal decorations, unit awards, and commendations recognizing his exceptional service and leadership. He and his wife, Racheal, whom he married in 2004, are proud parents of two sons, Thomas and Daniel. The Morris family proudly calls Murfreesboro, Tennessee, home.
As Post Adjutant, Brian is committed to supporting the mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars by maintaining the Post's official records, assisting with administrative operations, and ensuring the organization continues to serve veterans, their families, and the Murfreesboro community with excellence and integrity.
