Commander Jerry Stewart

Jerry Stewart serves as Commander of The Smith – Rogers –Reeves at Stones River VFW Post 4575 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he is dedicated to strengthening veteran advocacy, expanding community engagement, and preserving the legacy of those who have served our nation. His leadership is guided by a commitment to service, integrity, and ensuring veterans and their families receive the support they have earned.

Jerry honorably served 13 years on active duty in the United States Army and five years in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He began his military career as a 14T Patriot Missile Launcher Operator and Maintainer, serving at Fort Bliss, Fort Hood, Osan Air Base, and Kunsan Air Base. During his military service, he deployed twice to the Middle East in support of U.S. operations, serving in Qatar and Kuwait. As a member of the 269th Military Police Company in the Tennessee Army National Guard, he also participated in disaster response operations following the devastating March 2020 tornado in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.

Beyond his military service, Jerry is deeply involved in supporting veterans through education, mentorship, and advocacy. He serves as President of the Student Veterans of America B.R.A.V.O. Chapter at Middle Tennessee State University, helping student veterans successfully transition from military service to higher education and civilian careers. He also serves as the Department of Tennessee District 5 Benefits Advisor, assisting veterans in understanding and accessing the benefits they have earned through their service.

Jerry is pursuing a degree in Concrete Industry Management at Middle Tennessee State University with an emphasis in contracting, combining his military leadership with professional development in the construction industry. He is married and the proud father of two daughters, a son, and a son-in-law. As Commander of VFW Post 4575, Jerry remains committed to honoring the sacrifices of past generations while building a stronger future for veterans, military families, and the Murfreesboro community.
